Bella Winter owns Vintage Winter, an antique store in the charming little town of Hope Eaton in the Shropshire Hills. When she finds the body of a treasure hunter who was murdered while digging something up in the dark of night, Bella does some digging of her own and uncovers a hoard of secrets and suspects.
The Antique Store Detective was a fantastic read. I particularly liked the antique store theme and enjoyed the many fun references to vintage fashion, music, and merchandise.
Bella Winter is a delightful amateur sleuth. She is a no-nonsense gal who is determined, relatable, curious, and observant. Clare Chase does a beautiful job of showcasing Bella's skills and personality. The supporting characters are also interesting and well-developed and help to provide support and conflict in all the right places.
Clare Chase is an experienced mystery writer, and it shows. The Antique Store Detective presents a puzzling but fair mystery that is engaging and satisfying to solve.
The Antique Store Detective is the kind of book that makes you want to put it down just long enough to order the next one in the series.
I can't wait to read book two, The Antique Store Detective and the May Day Murder.
