In Snowcaps, Skiing, & Sabotage, the Southeast Olympic ski trials are being held in Normal, Kentucky. The small town is buzzing with excitement and out-of-town visitors. Campground owner and amateur sleuth Mae West is excited to hit the bunny slopes and engage in a snow pile of wintery activities. But before you can say bedazzled earmuffs, there's a stiff in the snow and a mystery to solve.

One of the skiers is taken out of the competition, and Mae is determined to find out why. It turns out that there are plenty of suspects, and figuring out whodunnit is an Olympic-level feat.

But Mae is no stranger to murder mystery investigations. She has a nose for clues and the Laundry Club Ladies to back her up. Antics, hilarity, and a dash of danger ensue as Mae and the gals snoop and interrogate suspects.

I had a lot of fun reading this cozy mystery. Snowcaps, Skiing, & Sabotage is a lighthearted read with just the right amount of suspense and humor. The mystery was twisty enough to keep me guessing, and the mode of murder was creative. I also liked the wintery backdrop.

But the best part of Snowcaps, Skiing, & Sabotage (and all of the other books in this series) might be the Laundry Club Ladies. Mae, Dottie, and the other Laundry Club Ladies have a fantastic bond, enjoy each other's company, and work well together.

Their camaraderie is heartwarming and exemplifies the importance and value of recurring characters in a long-running cozy series. They've been a part of the Camper and Criminals story for so long that reading about them is like catching up with friends. It always feels good to be back on the case with them. I'm already looking forward to reading Cliffs, Clues, & Conspiracies (A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery Series Book 40).

I recommend Snowcaps, Skiing, & Sabotage to anyone who likes fun, lighthearted Southern mysteries with small towns, amateur sleuths, and a wacky but lovable cast of characters. This book could be read as a stand-alone or in order with the rest of the series.

The Camper and Criminals Cozy Mystery book series is currently under development for television, so now is a good time to start this series or jump back in if you haven't done so already.
