Bailey King, her Amish grandmother, and the candy factory employees are making treats for the Candy Land-themed game that has taken over the town square for Christmas. When one of Bailey’s Amish employees meets a sticky end, Bailey and her law enforcement fiancé investigate and discover that the employee’s death was no accident.
I am a massive fan of the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries and was super keen to read Gingerbread Danger. I was incredibly excited about this installment because it has a Christmas theme, a community celebration inspired by Candy Land, and a holiday recipe at the end that I really wanted to try.
The book did not disappoint. Gingerbread Danger was fantastic—hands down, my favorite cozy mystery of the year so far. I particularly like books that make me feel something. This one made me laugh, cry, gasp, and cheer.
It was beautiful revisiting the characters of Harvest, Ohio. Bailey makes a great sleuth because she is kind, principled, and brave. I enjoyed seeing the relationships between Bailey and her family and Bailey and her beau deepen and grow.
The mystery was very suspenseful and offered up plenty of suspects and clever clues. There was also lots of Jethro, the toaster-sized polka-dot pig, to break the tension.
There is a unique recipe at the end to make the perfect treat to enjoy with the book.
I loved Gingerbread Danger and would recommend it to anyone who likes well-written cozy mysteries, holiday reads, and clean cozies. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
