The Secret Bookcase Mysteries contains many references to other mystery books and sleuths. The store where Annie works is owned by Hal, who claims to be a long-lost relative of renowned mystery author Agatha Christie. Annie’s colleague Fletcher is a Sherlock Holmes scholar. Reading a classic Agatha Christie novel or Sherlock Holmes Story is a good follow-up to the Secret Bookcase Mysteries.

Death at the Dinner Party is based (in part) on Ellie Alexander’s favorite game, Clue. Playing a game of Clue is a fun book club activity. You can find lots of versions of the Clue game and other mystery games on Amazon and other places where games are sold.
